Purchasing a highly affordable car can often mean settling on a barebones set of features and stripped-down styling, but Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has found the 2014 Hyundai Veloster to be a clear exception to that rule. The auto-research site recently ranked the Veloster at No. 2 on its list of the 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000 for 2014, citing the compact hatchback’s unique three-door design and its excellent value that has become synonymous with the Hyundai brand.
Outside, the Hyundai Veloster sports aggressive styling that is augmented by large LED-accented headlights, while inside the cabin, it has a number of standard features that will appeal to younger buyers. All 2014 Veloster models come with Bluetooth connectivity, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, USB and auxiliary input jacks, and a largest-in-class seven-inch LCD touchscreen with a rearview camera. Drivers will also receive value from the Veloster long after their purchase, as the hatchback returns up to 36 mpg on the highway.
“Often times the dangers of buying an inexpensive car can include losing a sense of individual style and forgoing some pretty convenient technology features, but instead, the Hyundai Veloster provides an engaging exterior design that is unmatched in the industry and a load of standard in-car connectivity,” said Scott Levy, general manager of Rosen Hyundai. “Also, if buyers want to up the cool factor when it comes to performance and style, they can go with either the Veloster Turbo or the new Veloster RE:FLEX Edition.”
Housing a 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo boasts 201 horsepower and a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio while harnessing that impressive output with sport-tuned steering and Torque Vectoring Control. On the other hand, the new 2014 Veloster RE:FLEX Edition offers an exclusive Ice Pearl paintjob, 18-inch alloy wheels with a chrome finish, chrome hood accents and door handles, and RE:FLEX badging. Buyers of the Veloster RE:FLEX Edition also have the option of black or red full-leather seating that is complemented by Piano Black accents, illuminated door sills and a 450-watt eight-speaker Dimension premium sound system.
