From safety technology to comfort and convenience, there are a lot of factors that determine just how gratifying a vehicle is to own and drive. To help shoppers fully consider all of those characteristics, J.D. Power releases its annual Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, which surveys new-vehicle owners to identify which models rank the highest in overall satisfaction. When it came to minivans this year, the auto-research firm found that no model placed higher than the 2015 Kia Sedona.
To determine the winners in its 2015 APEAL Study, J.D. Power retrieved feedback from more than 84,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2015 models after they had been with their vehicles for 90 days. Participants rated their vehicles across 77 attributes in eight categories, including “comfort/convenience,” “cockpit/instrument panel,” “engine/transmission,” “ride, handling and braking,” “styling/exterior,” “seats,” “sound system” and “heating, ventilation and cooling.” Those owner ratings were then quantified into an overall APEAL score based on a 1,000-point scale, with the Kia Sedona topping the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna for the highest score in the Minivan segment.
The availability of certain safety-related technologies boosted many vehicles’ APEAL scores this year, and the 2015 Kia Sedona was no exception. Drivers can raise their awareness of nearby vehicles on the sides and rear of the 2015 Sedona by opting for the Blind-Spot Detection System and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Meanwhile, the available Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System provide even more advanced crash prevention toward the front of the Sedona.
Whether you’re seeking safety, performance, comfort or style for your family, the latest J.D. Power APEAL Study suggests that you’ll drive away satisfied when you purchase a new Kia Sedona.
