2015 Kia Sedona Doubles Up on Awards for Protecting, Pampering Passengers

2015 Kia Sedona

It’s one thing for a vehicle to pamper its passengers with premium features, but quite another for it to be fully capable of protecting that precious cargo at the same time. The redesigned 2015 Kia Sedona minivan manages to do both simultaneously, recently earning a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) while landing on the 2015 Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list.

To net its 5-star overall safety rating, the 2015 Kia Sedona had to excel in the NHTSA’s frontal, side and rollover crash tests. Helping the new Sedona achieve its high score was a rigid chassis with a static torsional stiffness that is 36 percent greater than that of the closest competitor in its class. Additionally, 76 percent of the vehicle’s body is made of Advanced High Strength Steel, and the strategic use of ultra-high-strength steel in the A-pillars ensures that a crash’s impact is spread evenly throughout the structure, reducing the effect on passengers.

Despite its stiff exterior, the 2015 Sedona is designed for total comfort on the inside. The first minivan to make the Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list since 2011, Kia’s offering was praised by editors for its optional Nappa leather seats, which stand out with a black-and-tan pairing accented by orange stitching and white piping. WardsAuto was also impressed by the available second-row First-Class lounge seating, which reclines and features retractable footrests.

Contributing to both convenience and safety, the 2015 Sedona’s in-car technology was noted by both WardsAuto and the NHTSA. The available next-generation UVO eServices infotainment system offers Google local search and integrates with apps like Pandora, iHeart Radio and Yelp. Meanwhile, the NHTSA listed the Sedona’s available Forward Collision Warning System as a recommended advanced technology feature.

When choosing a minivan, safety should always be a top priority for your family, but that doesn’t mean that you need to sacrifice your sense of style or settle on inferior technology. The 2015 Kia Sedona is the perfect choice for young parents who want a modern minivan that is stylish, sophisticated and safe. All-New 2016 Hyundai Tucson Uses Technology to Boost Fuel Efficiency and Safety

2016 Hyundai Tucson

The sleekly redesigned 2016 Hyundai Tucson won’t go on sale until July, but it is already being called the most technologically advanced compact crossover SUV by some industry experts. Unveiled at the New York International Auto Show earlier this month, the 2016 Tucson will leverage advanced features to boost fuel economy, safety, convenience and connectivity.

Hyundai’s next-generation Tucson will be available with a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is predicted to produce an impressive 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Paired to a segment-first seven-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission that optimizes efficiency and acceleration, the new 1.6-liter unit is estimated by Hyundai to return up to 33 mpg on the highway, which would be a 5-mpg improvement over the Tucson’s outgoing 2.4-liter engine. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will carry over from the previous generation, but it is also expected to be slightly more fuel efficient.

With more than 50 percent of its new chassis comprised of high-strength steel, the 2016 Tucson will provide greater crash protection despite its efficiency gains, targeting the top safety ratings in the industry. Meanwhile, a wide range of newly available active-safety technologies will help prevent accidents in the first place, including Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Backup Warning Sensors, Blind Spot Detection, a Lane Departure Warning System and Lane Change Assist. The new Tucson will also offer a standard rearview camera and optional HID headlights with Dynamic Bending Light, which will turn with the direction of the steering wheel to improve visibility around sharp corners.

Inside its more spacious cabin, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will feature larger touchscreens, including a standard 5-inch LCD screen and an available 8-inch navigation touchscreen. For the first time, Tucson buyers will be able to opt for integration with Apple Siri Eyes Free and apps like Pandora Internet Radio and Yelp. To simplify the loading of groceries and gear into the rear cargo area, an optional smart power liftgate will automatically open after the owner stands a few feet behind it for a couple seconds with the key fob in their pocket or purse.

Whether it’s the fuel-saving powertrains, crash-preventing features or convenient connectivity, the redesigned 2016 Hyundai Tucson will be the perfect compact crossover SUV for navigating the ins and outs and comings and goings of your Chicagoland commute. We can’t wait to welcome the vehicle to our Algonquin Hyundai dealership this summer!
