2015 Hyundai Sonata Is Victorious in $27,000 Midsize Sedan Challenge

2015 Hyundai Sonata

Still the best-selling vehicle segment in the United States, the midsize-sedan class remains highly competitive when it comes to winning the hearts and minds of discerning families. If midsize-sedan buyers are looking to spend less than $27,000 while netting at least 28 mpg combined at the gas pump, Cars.com, USA Today, PBS’ “MotorWeek” and even a real-life family have concluded there is no better option right now than the redesigned 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

The $27,000 Midsize Sedan Challenge scored 10 popular cars based on a series of tests in the Baltimore area. Seventy-five percent of a vehicle’s score came from course testing by editors at Cars.com, USA Today and “MotorWeek,” while 15 percent was assigned to the same testing by the Kapoor family from the suburbs of Washington, D.C. All judges rated vehicles on acceleration, handling, ride, roominess, comfort and features. To determine real-world fuel economy, the cars were also taken on a 180-mile drive that accounted for the final 10 percent of their scores. While tallying the highest total score of the bunch, the 2015 Sonata was praised for having the ride and handling of a pricier vehicle, a more-than-sufficient drivetrain and a long list of features that pampers parents while protecting their children.

“The new Hyundai Sonata was an easy choice in the Midsize Sedan Challenge because it checked off all the boxes on the judges’ list of criteria,” said Scott Levy, general manager of Rosen Hyundai. “The 2015 Sonata is simply the most well-rounded midsize sedan out there right now, and not only that, but its buyers can get all the advanced features they’re looking for at an affordable price.”

As if the nod from three media outlets in the $27,000 Midsize Sedan Challenge was not enough, the new Sonata was also recently named a Top Rated Vehicle by Edmunds.com. The auto-research site evaluates more than 200 new vehicles annually, granting Top Rated Vehicle status when a model achieves an “A” rating compared to the rest of its price and size classes on a standardized road-test loop and test course. Along with its many other changes for the 2015 model year, the Sonata received a stiffer body structure and a revised suspension for a smoother ride and sharper handling, as well as newly available technologies like automatic High Beam Assist, Smart Cruise Control and a hands-free smart trunk.

The 2015 Honda Fit Is Racking Up Awards in November

2015 Honda Fit

With many auto journalists and researchers looking back at the best vehicles to debut in the past year, the holiday season is also awards season in the auto industry, and the 2015 Honda Fit has already emerged as a clear standout. In November alone, the redesigned subcompact has been named a 2015 AUTOMOBILE All-Star by Automobile magazine, a finalist for Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year award, a Top Rated Vehicle by Edmunds.com and a segment leader in the ALG Residual Value Awards.

Automobile magazine’s All-Stars are the vehicles that editors consider the best new models of the year after they evaluate candidates based on performance, features and overall value. Lauding the new Honda Fit’s ergonomic and high-tech interior as well as its improved powertrain and smooth ride, Automobile editors were amazed by the quality of design and engineering that buyers receive at a very low price.

Green Car Journal also recognized the Fit’s efficient use of space when naming it a finalist for 2015 Green Car of the Year. Editors noted that the subcompact nearly offers the cargo room of a midsize SUV while returning a class-leading 41 mpg on the highway with its new 1.5-liter Earth Dreams Technology four-cylinder engine and optional continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Evaluating about 200 vehicles each year, Edmunds.com grants its Top Rated Vehicle title to the models that have received an “A” rating for exceling in their size and price classes during road and track testing. The 2015 Fit joins seven other Honda models that have been dubbed Top Rated Vehicles this year.

While the Fit’s other recent awards focused on its appeal in the present, the car’s ALG Residual Value Award suggests that it will still be a sought-after ride in the future. Topping the Scion xD and Nissan Versa in the Subcompact Car segment, the 2015 Fit is predicted by ALG to retain the highest percentage of its MSRP after a three-year period.

Even though the new Honda Fit appears to be a unanimous favorite with critics, we always recommend that our customers get behind the wheel themselves. If you’re on the market for an affordable car that is stylish yet practical, we suggest stopping by our Honda dealership in Gurnee, Ill., this holiday season to take the 2015 Fit for a test-drive.

2015 Hyundai Accent to Offer More Style for Every Dollar Spent

2015 Hyundai Accent

In the past year, the Hyundai Accent has shored up its reputation for providing high levels of style at a low price point, even earning the title of “Most Appealing Small Car” in the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study. The compact car’s design will soon be even more engaging for every dollar spent, as it is receiving a number of style upgrades for the 2015 model year.

Up front, the 2015 Hyundai Accent dons a revamped grille while featuring a new standard headlight design on both sedan and hatchback models. The 2015 Accent sedan also boasts a new standard light signature for its rear taillamps, as well as a newly available machine-finish 16-inch wheel design that is standard on the Accent Sport hatchback (formerly known as the Accent SE). Meanwhile, a new 14-inch steel wheel-cover design awaits buyers who opt out of the 16-inch rims.

Both inside and out, the 2015 Accent will offer fresh looks on its surfaces, including new Vitamin C, Pacific Blue and Misty Beige paintjobs as well as new pattern choices for the Beige, Gray and Black interior colors. When it comes to the electronics inside the cabin, the tones of the standard LCD display have been reversed for easier readability while an outside temperature display is now standard in the instrument cluster.

If you’re looking to get the most stylish compact car for your money, the 2015 Accent will arrive at our Hyundai dealership in Algonquin, Ill., later this month. Make plans to stop by then for a test-drive!
